Carlos Mexican Restaurant
8470 Florida Blvd (the cloverleaf at Florida and Airline)

When DBG was a tiny tot, her mother and father would leave her behind with some wayward relative and enjoy
a night out imbibing margaritas at Carlos. After she was old enough to climb up on a stool and peer over the
bar, DBG was invited along. This tradition continued until about five years ago when Carlos retired. He
continued cooking and catered for friends and relatives. His son, owner of Mestizo, even placed some of his
dad’s time honored recipes on the menu.

Retirement did not suit Carlos and he has recently reopened the restaurant that bears his name. The new Carlos
is a throwback – a dark old school joint with a small menu of well-crafted dishes.

Many dishes feature seafood, like the tasty crawfish taco on the Cancun plate. For $10.75, you get the taco, a
shrimp and crab enchilada, and a crawfish and spinach enchilada. The enchiladas sit in a rich cheesy sauce that
will tempt you to lick the plate clean. DBG has always been a sucker for the shrimp and crab chimichanga
topped with tangy onions and peppers.

So go drop in on Carlos sometime. He’s open Tuesday through Friday for lunch and dinner and Saturday for
dinner.
