Tsunami

100 Lafayette Street

Tsunami is perched atop the Shaw Center and offers the best view in town.  The terrace is a wonderful place to drink a cocktail and watch the sunset into the Mighty Mississippi.  DBG and her Protector enjoyed their Tuesday happy hour before they went to see comedian Brian Poeshen at the Manship Theatre. From 4 pm to 10 pm you can get $2 domestic drafts, $3 house wines, $4 appletini’s and cosmo’s, and 25% off all rolls under $9. Their sushi is above average for Red Stick and DBG is a big fan of their Ika fries.  They perfectly fry strips of calamari tenderloin and serve them with a spicy mayo.  Yum!

OK.  Now for the downside…The service is lacking.  Very lacking.  It is like the manager selected the wait staff based solely on attractiveness.  One sever spilled an entire cosmo and DBG and never apologized or offered a buy-back.  The worst part is that on the terrace, they automatically add an 18% gratuity to the bill. So there is no incentive for the staff to play nice.  Beware!

PS—Has anyone ever noticed that the furniture on the terrace is a tad uncomfortable? It is like it was designed for the 10-foot tall blue humanoid beings of the planet Pandora.
