Taste of Bavaria
14476 Louisiana 22, Ponchatoula, LA, http://www.tasteofbavariarestaurant.com

Guten Tag! DBG knows when you think about South Louisiana, you don’t normally think of German food. Just
like the French, Irish and Italians, many an herr and fraulein landed here after their journey to the new country.

Although A Taste of Bavaria is in Ponchatoula, a little bit north of the German Coast, it manages to give South
Louisiana a glimpse and taste of a breakfast fit for a Konig. For 26 years, they have been doing all of the baking
onsite. If you don’t get your fill of hearty German 6 grain bread at breakfast, you can take a loaf to go. There’s
also strudel, almond croissants, and cakes. Try a German apple pancake or go the brunch route and have
some homemade spaetzle, Nuremberg brats, and potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce.

When should you go? They are open from 8 am to 3 pm Wednesday through Sunday. It would make a very
good pre-game before the upcoming Strawberry Festival or before a tour of the Abita Springs Brewery. Oh, and
speaking of Abita, look for their Strawberry Harvest Lager. It should be hitting stores right about now.

Auf Wiedersehen
