Here We Come A-Wassailing Among the Leaves So Green…

Wassailing (WAH-sayl-ing)–verb–a house- visiting custom, wishing health to neighbors and friends,
usually during the holiday season

Need to serve carolers? Don’t have much money, but still want to toast health and prosperity with
friends? Never fear! Remember Marcello’s on Perkins Road has a large selection of 3 for $10
wines. Don’t sneer! You can make some mulled wine to serve your Wassailers!

Mulled Wine:

2 bottles of red wine
4 ounces of port or brandy
12 whole cloves
4 cinnamon sticks
1 large orange; zested
Combine all and simmer for 20 minutes. Serve warm and steamy in a glass mug.
Yields about 10 servings–7 servings if you live in South Louisiana.

And remember kids, if you wassail till you stumble, call a cab!
