“That’s my Daddy’s bar!” This was the response DBG got from Frank Duvic’s daughter
when she mentioned that she had dropped into his Perkins Road lounge after it first
opened many years ago. (DBG also remembers Frank carding her at the door of The
Bayou while she stood in front of the Elvis shrine. She does wish she could erase the
memories of Wednesday gin night at The Bayou. It just never seemed to end well.)
Frank’s newer creation, Duvic’s, was one of the first martini bars to hit Baton Rouge,
and its specialty cocktail menu has stood the test of time. Recently, the venue has
seemed stuck in a rut, but DBG announces that food has returned to their list of

Chef Noah Lessard, formerly of Sullivan’s, has crafted a quality menu that transcends
typical bar fare. DBG enjoyed a hand-ground Duvic’s Burger paired with duck fat fries.
Lessard also serves a few other duck dishes – duck confit tacos, smoked duck salad,
and duck and crawfish boudin balls. For those who only want to nibble while they sip on
their Cajun Martini; fresh-cut and flash-fried mozzarella medallions are a good choice.
Food is available from 5-11pm Monday through Friday.
